Alexander Wilcox Cheek
Carnegie Mellon University Assistant Teaching Professor, Information Systems
Alexander R. Wilcox Cheek is an Assistant Teaching Professor in Information Systems at Carnegie Mellon University, based since 2009 in Qatar. He joined the I.S. faculty from the School of Design, where he received a Masters of Design in 2009. There, he studied information and interaction design, and design theory, which continues to be his area of focus. In Qatar, he teaches design studies, integrating technology with products, services, information, organizations, and human ecologies. Alex co-founded the NSF, Google, and Gates Foundation supported Classroom Salon, a media annotation platform. He also serves as CDO of Macromicro, a data visualization company in Boston. In Doha, he leads IxDA’s local chapter, which he also co-founded.
